Flower Mound, TX — February 17, 2011 — By demonstrating compliance with The Joint Commission‘s national standards for health care quality and safety, Medical Center of Lewisville’s Flower Mound Emergency Center (FMEC) has not only earned the Joint Commission’s Gold Seal of Approval™, but has earned a perfect score.
“We sought accreditation for our organization because we want to demonstrate our commitment to patient’s safety and quality care,” says Michelle Underwood, MBA, BSN, RN, CEN Director of Operations at FMEC. “We view obtaining Joint Commission accreditation as another step toward achieving excellence.”
The Joint Commission conducted an unannounced, on-site evaluation of Flower Mound Emergency Center. The accreditation award recognizes Flower Mound Emergency Center’s dedication to complying with the Joint Commission’s state-of-the-art standards on a continuous basis.
"Above all, the national standards are intended to stimulate continuous, systematic and organization-wide improvement in an organization's performance and the outcomes of care," says Mark Pelletier, R.N., M.S., executive director, Hospital Programs, Accreditation and Certification Services, The Joint Commission. "The community should be proud that Flower Mound Emergency Center is focusing on the most challenging goal -- to continuously raise quality and safety to higher levels."
Ms. Underwood spoke of her pride in a compassionate staff whose members ask what needs to be done to be accredited by The Joint Commission. "In addition, we appreciate the educational aspect of the survey and the opportunity to interact with the team of surveyors." She called the accreditation, "proof of an organization-wide commitment and team collaboration to uphold the highest quality standards in emergency services on an ongoing basis."
Flower Mound Emergency Center opened in the fall of 2009 and provides emergency services for both ambulance and walk-in patients 24 hours a day. Learn more at www.fmemergency.com.
