Day Surgery

The Day Surgery Center operates as a full service surgery unit meeting the needs of both outpatients and inpatients for a variety of minor procedures. The highly trained medical staff is sensitive to the individual needs of each patient and provides the personal touch which makes any procedure more comfortable. You will find your experience at Medical Center of Lewisville’s Day Surgery Center for pre- and post-operative patient care relaxed and professional.

In addition to other procedures, the Day Surgery Center offers the latest techniques in stress incontinence. Our Laser Photoselective Vaporization of the Prostate (PVP) allows for the treatment of benign prostatic hypertrophy on an outpatient basis with virtually no pain; most patients go home with no catheter. We also offer alternatives to hysterectomies, including endometrial ablations. In addition, the Day Surgery Center offers outpatient blood transfusions, IV therapy, pain management/injections, and other minor procedures as prescribed by your physician.

Planning Ahead

We know that preparing for surgery can be a stressful experience so we’ve tried to anticipate some of your questions below. If you have additional questions, please ask your surgeon, anesthesiologist, or nurse.

How do I register?

A Registration Representative will call you prior to surgery to pre-register you for your procedure.

Where should I go?

The Day Surgery Center is located on the first floor just off the main lobby of Medical Center of Lewisville. Please check in with the receptionist in the lobby.

When should I arrive?

Patients are expected to arrive prior to their scheduled surgery time. A nurse will call you to confirm your exact arrival time, or you will receive this information during your pre-admission testing visit. If you are unable to keep your appointment, please notify the Day Surgery Center as soon as possible by calling 972.420.4866. If you develop a fever, rash, cough, cold, or other illness, please call your physician as soon as possible; it may be necessary to postpone your surgery.

What should I bring?

Please bring your insurance card(s) and driver’s license and, if applicable, any of the following: written referral form, pre-certification number from your health plan, co-payment, and a list of your current medications and allergies.

How should I prepare for going home after my surgery?

For health and safety reasons, you will not be able to drive yourself home following your surgery. Please make arrangements for someone to drive you home. Wear comfortable clothes and flat shoes. It is also strongly recommended that someone stay with you for 24 hours following your surgery.
